20 Mar 12	Foxes Bridge Colliery Tip Take B4226 from Coleford, just after Speech House car park take first track left into woods, past Kensley Lodge house and through the wooden five bar gate and immediately bear right. Follow main forest road and white arrows to the parking area.	Scrub clearance to benefit butterflies especially Grizzled Skipper and Wood White etc.	Enter forest at SO625128 Park at SO634135 (worksite SO639136)
27 Mar 12	Edgehills Heathland Take the A4136 road from Drybrook heading to Mitcheldean. Turn right at the top of Plump Hill (opposite the Forest of Dean sign) into Fairplay Cottages and follow arrows to the mast.	Scrub clearance on heathland site	SO662158
3 Apr 12	The Bearse On B4228 go approx. 1km south of B4231 junction and turn right by bungalow – proceed into woods through farmland.	Continuation of ride clearance etc to benefit butterflies	SO573058
10 Apr 12	Abbots Wood rom Littledean, turn down lane opposite fish & chip shop towards Soudley. After about 1.5 miles take the first metal barrier on the right and follow forest road, forking right to the worksite.	Clearing butterfly glades and ponds	Enter Forest at SO659109. Work site at SO660114
17 Apr 12	Wyeside Take B4228 St Briavels to Chepstow road & Approx ½ mile south of the Park Heathland site opposite Bounds Hauliers yard turn right into wood. Follow white arrows	Clearing timber and brash after coppicing.	ST553984

26 June 12	Woorgreens Meet at 10am by GWT truck at gate beyond Kensley Lodge. 1/4 mile beyond Speech House Hotel heading to Cinderford from Coleford. Expect gorse needles and wear long sleeves.	Bracken bashing - so bring a favoured bashing tool to swipe bracken fronds and either cut, crimp or crush the stem to exhaust the rhizomes. We are working in areas of good heath, ride bays and ride sides. This will be year 2 of 5 needed to subdue bracken dominance	SO627126
17 July 12	Lancaut Meet at 10am by GWT truck on Lancaut Lane just off B4228 3 miles north of Chepstow.	Church meadow and bracken glade raking. Help rake a small historic church meadow and Lancaut meadow to promote the original plants above the coarse grasses.	ST563985
31 July 12	Ridley Bottom Meet at 10am at GWT truck and park on lay-bye on Rosemarys Lane off B4228,6km north of Chepstow Note- will be postponed if wet so phone Kev Cancelled	Hay raking. Help rake a traditional hay cut off this meadow and displace wildflower seed back into the soil. Bracken is dominating the hay and needs to be cut before it spores.	ST537967

11 Sep 12	Sandstone quarries, Old Staple-edge Wood,Geological site From Coleford to Cindeford take the B4226,just after Dilke Hospital but before the Linear Park car park, turn right into a forest parking area, meet there but if late go through the gate and follow the white arrows ( a long way!) to the parking at SO647106.	Scrub clearance to expose rock formations and benefit invertebrates requiring open conditions.	Turn off main road at SO649126

All tasks are led by FC Ranger or GWT Ranger staff, start at 9.45 am and finish around 3pm

Please remember that you must wear steel toe-capped boots and gloves.
Please bring wellington boots if you have them, as many of the sites are rather wet.
Some of the sites are difficult to find and therefore an ordnance survey map will be useful
As a general rule, we will try to do at least some work on wet days so please bring wet weather gear
