Greathough Brook, Piano Corner Take A4136 From Drybrook and at Brierley turn right towards the Pludds. Metal barrier is on the left. This site is being looked at as a possible fenced trial area for a beaver family. Beavers here would have a dual use- to undertake coppicing for us and so improve the habitat for a range of species and also to hold more water on the site and so help to reduce the amount of water reaching downstream in times of high rain. This would not a re-introduction but would be a fenced trial site. Beavers have been used to do this in an experimental fenced area in Devon. Google Devon Beaver Project on the Devon Wildlife Trust website. |
Survey of plants and any animals of the area. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED as we will be looking at everything from frogspawn to birds, butterflies and trees. Prior to any fencing and 'beavering' taking place we need to find out as much as possible about the plants and animals there. Bring wellies |
