Autumn/Winter Programme 2015
| 8 Sep 15 | May Hill - National Trust May Hill, National Trust site near Clifford's Mesne,Newent. Directions: Head towards the Yew Tree Inn (Clifford's Mesne, Newent, GL18 1JS). When you reach the Inn it should be on your right, continue to follow the lane up towards the hill. Pass over a cattle grid and continue to follow the lane until you reach a gravelled car park on the right. There should be a metal gate opposite. Mobile on day- 07879 604300 |
The task to be carried out is the removal of young birch scrub on May Hill Common to allow the extent of bracken cutting to increase. The scrub will be removed with the use of hand tools including bow saws and loppers. The cuttings will be burnt. Larger trees difficult to remove with hand tools can be removed by the NT Ranger with a chainsaw.

Approx 300metres before the Christchurch/Bracelands campsite crossroads, go left along a track, bear left and enter the wood through a metal barrier at SO570125. Follow the forest road, take the first left and follow the forest road to the parking area at SO566119 |
Removing broken toad fence and erecting new one along main road. Bring good digging spades if you have one and lots of technical brain power and muscle. Working with the Highways due to the main road so NO DOGS on actual work site. Bring High Visibility vests if you have one.
