The canal has never been so dry at this time of year but maybe that is because of the laurel which used to swamp it and now there is a clear passage for water to run through.

The dried up canal is now visible after the laurel is cleared.
This overgrown laurel at the start of the day is quite daunting but also, quite easy to cut and snaps very easily.

The canal was unusually totally dry which meant some of the laurel previously
inaccessible could be cut back. It also meant the depth of the canal and the
work that had gone into the original cascades to make them an ornamental
feature was visible.
