Our task was Pine and Gorse clearance for heathland restoration. We were thinning the number of regenerating pine trees from the best section of heathland habitat.
We cleared around the fires especially to prevent the fires spreading. We exposed a great deal of heather under the gorse. |
We, eventually, had five fires going and a lot of smoke!. |

This Song Thrush nest was found. The song thrush builds a neat mud-lined cup nest in a bush or tree and lays four to five dark-spotted blue eggs. It is omnivorous and has the habit of using a favourite stone as an "anvil" on which to break open the shells of snails. |
