Although the image is a bit dark, the cleared pond can be seen in the background. There had been three enormous willow trees covering this pond so that it had previously been totally hidden.

The larger logs were left in piles.

The fires burnt off all of the willow brush which we had cut down.

The area at Ellwood has three little ponds which were totally smothered by large willow trees. We planned to clear at least one of the ponds but we worked so well with a reasonably large team that we managed to clear two of the ponds completely and made inroads on the third pond. We are hoping that this will encourage damsel and dragonflies.

The weather was really rainy and most of us wore our waterproofs!
