Perry Hay Brook beaver enclosure

Grid Ref SO 6353 1077

We had a chance to go inside the new beaver enclosure today. Our main task was to find a male deer who had probably jumped in and we were to try and shoo him out through a large gate! We were to space ourselves out through the enclosure and head him up to the gate. Unfortunately, he took a left turn instead of our desired right turn and disappeared into the distance!

This is not surprising! The enclosure is of 12 hectares so there is plenty of foliage for him to live on and he could jump out as he jumped in. We will continue to check him.

We then followed Perry Hay Brook down to where the beavers are now being very busy!

This is the team of volunteers ready to check the enclosure. (The dogs were kept on the lead the wnole time)

This is one of the lakes created by the beavers and one of their dams is on the right of the image.

Evidence of some major tree work by the beavers. Perry Hay Brook used to be about 6-7 feet wide - There are now 50 feet wide stretches!

Another smaller tree stump.
