Today was worked in the snow - at the end of March! - and such a contrast to three weeks ago when we were in T-shirts! The temperature barely rose above zero degrees so a good fire was very welcome. We continued to remove small trees to open the area up for butterflies and birds. We found one of last years small Willow Warbler nest near the base of small pine tree.

At the start of the day, the fire is being built and the trees surrounding it are gradually removed. We did have this spot of sunshine but it did not last long! |

The Forest Ranger with the chainsaw kept us supplied with plenty of brush for the fire and to build a log pile. |
