This is a new pond created by the Forestry Commission and it will be interesting to see how it develops. The area behind the pond has been completely cleared and will be left to lie fallow for a while.

The team take a break before moving on to another part of the site.
There are now nine exmoor ponies at Tidenham Chase and they were very curious when we arrived. This photograph shows the River Severn in the distance.

We returned to Tidenham to find a great deal of changes have been taking place. The Forestry Commission have removed many hectares of coniferous trees and have flailed the ground to allow the heathland to regenerate. The Exmoor ponies are now grazing the rough areas well and new fencing has been added to contain them. The team cleared some old gorse around the pond near to the trig point and then moved onto an area being swamped in Rhododendrons.
