Ridley Bottom GWT Reserve

Grid Ref SO563985

This was a beautiful day down in the wild flowers meadows at Ridley Bottom. Our objective was to remove over hanging branches and trees around the perimeter to allow more sunshine over the meadow and encourage the wild flowers to thrive.

We were going round the edges and cutting.

A few of the group checked the Dormouse boxes and cleaned them out. (Yes, they had a licence to do this!) There are 27 Dormouse boxes hung amid the Hazel trees in the woods around the meadow.

This old stack of logs has been there a few years and it is a good example of funghi generation and probably supports many types of invertebrates.

The weather was so fine that quite a few of us stripped down to T-shirts.

Spring is coming!
