Awres Glow Reptile Site
Grid Ref SO 6362 0926
We met opposite Linear Park and drove throught the woods to the reptile site.
It was a very wet day! We had been to this site a few years ago but now the invasive Birch has re-grown. Our task was to make glades for the adders and lizards as this is a noted site frequently used by them.
The jungle of young birch is evident in this image. By cutting small glades and leaving the piles of brush in heaps, it provides shelter and basking areas for the reptiles. |

Sheltering under the larger tree was essential at break time! |

Our cutting also opened out the canopy so that the sun could get through to the basking adders. |
