The team divided in two with one group clearing a glade, building a dead hedge and stacking the larger timber. The other group scraped the area of cut bracken to expose the soil and encourage the growth of butterfly attracting flowers for next year.

There was an enormous amount of old rubbush on the site and, underneath it, we found four of these common lizards. We quickly covered them up as the reptiles would have been hibernating.

The scraped area can be seen in the background.and we removed all the bracken. Time for tea!

Another open glade at the end of the day. Lots of dog walkers use the track by this site and the majority of them are very interested to find out what we are doing. It is interesting to hear how the area has changed over many years from them. |
