We were at Darkhill Iron Works in the early winter snow. We were down by the ponds in order to cut the small willow stems to about 18 inches long each all along the stems . We will be planting these alongside various streams in the near future. They sprout quite quickly and, yes, we know, the deer rather like to nibble on them! However, we do plant profusely.
The team are ready to start! |

This was our 'welfare' fire provided by our ranger and was very much appreciated as the snowy temperature was down to zero. |

The willow stems can be seen on the ground and were carried uphill to the forestry vans in the large white bags. |
