Greathough Brook at Piano Corner

Grid Ref SO621154

We returned to the Beaver Project site for another clear up around the fencing. As it is full summer, the foliage is abundant to the point that the fencing can't be seen!

We had a chance to enter the site which is now full of gnawed fallen trees. Those of us with our dogs kept them out and worked on the outside of the fence.

Although we used the gates to enter the enclosure, it was necessary to use the ladder as well and this image shows the height of the foliage.

There were many wild flowers in flower and we left these for the butterflies and the dock seeds for the birds.

We found an abundance of Hemp Agrimony , quite a few Angelica buds, Tansy, Vervain, Mallow and wild Basil

This is the main dam created by the Beavers. Their lake is now totally covered with Duck Weed. As there are no signs of them swimming through the top of the lake we assume that they swim underneath to their lodge.

Our Ranger is attaching apples to the spike which is regularly done so that the wildlife cameras can be triggered. She also replaced the cards in the wildlife cameras so we hope to get some new images of the beavers.
