Foxes Bridge

Grid Ref SO 644 138

We met at Foxes Bridge for an afternoon wildlife survey and we were joined by the Audlem Wildlife and Ecology Group.

This is a large fungus known as Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sulphureus)

The fruiting body of Chicken of the Woods is a thick, fleshy bracket with a bright creamy yellow color, often adorned with bands of orange when young. As it ages, the color fades to cream. The upper surface is velvety, and underneath, it has very small pores. The flesh is succulent, soft, and moist
