Flaxley Woods

Grid Ref SO675159

A good Spring day for us all and we continued to clear the cut wood from the forest floor to allow an open area for wild flowers to grow. This was an area deeper into the woods which had been clear felled.

We found quite a few species of the wild flowers already in bloom.

Many habitat piles were built.

The amount of wood and brush stretched right across this site. It is a very good Bluebell wood and, by clearing it, the Bluebells will flourish.

Below are the wild flowers we found today

. There were also loads of these but not in flower yet ……

Bluebell
Wood Sorrel
Lords and Ladies
Wood Spurge

Truly wild Daffodils which are shorter than the cultivated species.

Wood Anemone
Violet
Celandine
Dogs Mercury
Cuckoo Flower
