DEAN GREEN TEAM Wildlife Conservation Group in the Forest of Dean Gloucestershire |
20 September 2016
Greathough Brook, Piano Corner
Grid Ref SO621154
The idea today was to do a full GPS survey of the area and count, identify and photograph all the trees. However, we also do a yearly task of clearing the high banks to benefit the Wood White butterfly.
|
Part of the team went along the banks and removed the low growing shrubs and brambles. |
|
This is Greathough Brook about half way down the site. It is very tranquil at this time of year but can turn into a torrent when the winter rains come. |
|
The rest of the team went through the woods beside the brook and noted down the tree species and the number of them. |
