Haywood Inclosure

Phew! The heatwave is bringing temperatures of 30 degrees but this does not deter our trusty team!

We started off from where we left off last time at the mine, which has been known as Haywood Drift, this gale was last worked by twin brothers Steven and Richard Harding, who were helped out by Robin Morgan who had previously worked the gale with his brother.

We removed 318 metres of fencing (that's 668 metres removed from that stretch altogether) in very hot weather, ensuring we took lots of water breaks in the shade.

The old posts are fairly rotten so they were piled up to be removed.

Dragging the old wire is quite difficult through the intense foliage.

Can you see the head of the team member who is snapping the wire off the post?
