Blackpool Brook

Grid Ref SO 6209 1187

This was a return visit to Blackpool Brook where over 4000 trees were planted. Our task was to go to every tree guard and check that the sapling inside it had not died. We marked the dead ones ready for transplation re-planting. Luckily, there were surprisingly few tree casualties!

Before starting work we are briefed by our Ranger especially regarding Health and Safety issues as the terrain we were about to cross is very rough.
We can now see the effect of the leaky dams which have created many small ponds and boggy areas.
