Oakenhill Nature Reserve and Foxes Bridge Wildlife Survey

Grid Ref SO 6289 0818

We continued with the bracken bashing today at Oakenhill Nature Reserve. In the afternoon we also did a wildlife survey at Foxes Bridge.

It was good to find this small pool which had been smothered by the bracken.

We were a large team today which meant that we could cover a good area of bracken bashing!

This is the stream where we built leaky dams on last year.

This is the Blood-vein Moth (Timandra comae) which we found on the wildlife survey today. This attractive moth is fairly common in the southern counties of England and Wales, but scarcer further north and in Ireland. The adult rests with the wings held in such a position that the reddish cross-lines of the fore and hind wings form a continuous band.
