Simpsons Meadow

Grid Ref ST 558 992

The Dean Green Team had a beautiful sunny morning at Simpsons Meadow next to Tidenham Chase Reserve. This meadow has been used for years as a wildflower meadow and now that the flowers have faded we were raking the cut grass up to move it under the trees.
Four of the highland cattle came to see what we were up to when we moved on to take some birch down.

Piling the long cut grass and using the tarpaulin to drag into piles under the trees.

Most of the grass had been cut beforehand but our ranger finished off the area with the machine.

As we usually have a fair few members in our team this job only took us a couple of hours - it would have been a much longer job for just one or two people!.

We then moved on to a small coppice in Tidenham Chase Reserve to take down the small birch. We had the very inquisitive cattle watching us!
