Mallards Pike Lake

We were by the top pond at Mallards Pike Lake where the powerlines go along the track. Evidence of the Forest of Dean Car Rally the previous weekend could be seen along the track. Our task was to remove the conifers and birch alongside little ditches to allow room for violets to grow for the butterflies. It was decided not to burn off the debris but to leave wildlife stacks which will encourage invertebrates and will be eaten down by deer.
