Tidenham Chase GWT Nature Reserve

Tidenham Chase Park and Poors Allotment which are each over 30 hectares in size are now being run as a Gloucester Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve.

This time we arrived in the pouring rain which meant waterproofs for all of us! The weather did clear up in the afternoon though. It was decided that our GWT Ranger would use his chainsaw to cut down the larger birch whilst we loaded the branches on the fire.





Yes... I know... these stumps are rather high!

They were not left like that though...

We had to wait until the rain had ceased before applying the blue herbicide to the stumps so, after lunch, the stumps were cut down to ground level and the herbicide painted on.





This is one of the ponds near to where we were working and we were pleased to see that the fence we erected quite a few years ago is still standing.

We had built that fence to stop the cattle from going too deeply into the pond.
