The team met at Woorgreen Lake in thick fog but we were assured that the sun would come through by 11 am and it did!. Our task was to continuing to coppice masses of Alder in the swampy area by the side of the lake.
|
Larger trees were left to flourish and the coppicing would enable the Alder to regrow in time. |

Vanessa atalanta, the red admiral or, previously, the red admirable This was our first sighting of a Red Admral this year and it is a very early sighting. Spring temperatures in central England between 1976 and 1998 increased by 1.5 degrees Celsius and summer temperatures increased by 1 degree Celsius. Following this 22-year period of warming, the red admiral appeared six weeks earlier in the year. |

There are now many piles of brush in the coppiced area and it has opened up the view across the lake. |
