Flaxley Woods

Grid Ref SO675159

We were working today at Flaxley woods. The contractors had been in and coppiced an area of woodland and we were tasked in removing all the wood and brash to open up the ground to encourage the growth of wild flowers. This is an area noted for a variety of plants and the coppicing will be done on a rotational basis over a number of years.

At the start of the day, we had sunshine and the brush on the ground was quite deep.

Moving the brush towards the tree to clear the ground.

Piling up a wildlife sanctuary.

At the end of the day the brush hedges flank the open ground.
