Hoarthorns Farm

Forestry England are pleased to be creating a new woodland on land at Hoarthorns Farm in the Forest of Dean. Once planted, the new 88 hectare woodland will be one of the most significant extensions to woodland in the Forest of Dean in over 200 years. The woodland at Hoarthorns Farm will become a valuable habitat for wildlife, produce sustainable timber for a greener economy and be a new space for people to explore and enjoy.

Today, a good group of local people turned up to help with the tree planting.

Our rangers are explaining the task to us and previous tree planting can be seen in the background.

We planted quite a lot of Wild Cherry trees and staked the tree guards as there are quite a lot of deer regularly browsing on the farm.

This is Sue Middleton our Forest Verderer lending a hand.
