Woorgreens Lake GWT Reserve

Grid Ref SO630127

We were along the edge of Woorgreen Lake at the side of the stream which runs along the lake. Our objective was to clear back the Alder for about 3 metres which would allow light over the stream and thus to encourage dragonfly movement in the summer.

The images below demonstrate the progress of the clearing during the day.

The Alder varied in height from the small, scrappy bits at the stream's edge to the quite large trees in the distance.

This was just before lunchtime and shows the fallen branches which were later carried towards the fire.

At the end of the day, the stream is now exposed and the open area on the left might well produce some wild flowers.
