Clearwell Meend
At last it was a summer day and we could see wildflowers in bloom as well as a lizard. We were here to do bracken bashing which is a nice job as we were just smashing the bracken heads to prevent them from growing too vigorously.
We found this Early Purple Orchid (bottom of the image). Clearwell Meend is a noted Orchid site and there will soon be many more Orchids here. |
We also found this Lizard scampering in the grass. |

The bracken is starting to grow fast in the areas which were cut last autumn so knocking their heads off with sticks is required!!! |
