Greathough Brook at Piano Corner

Grid Ref SO621154

A group of six continued with the fence clearing today. At first, we all had a chance to go into the enclosure to see the changes that the beavers have made which are hard to see from the tracks outside. Obviously, we did not see the beavers as they were probably snug and warm under the dam and, normally, only emerge at night time.

This is at the top of the dam.

The dam from below. The water from the stream is now veering off to the left and trickling down on the lower side of the dam.

The water in the ponds is amazingly clear now and, at this time of year, has a greenish/bluey tint to it.

The beavers have felled quite a few trees and their teeth marks can be clearly seen.
