Mallards Pike
Grid Ref SO637095
The area to the northeast of Mallards Pike lakes is being cleared as part of the Butterfly Corridor scheme and we hope to see plants appearing where the trees once stood which would be of benefit to butterflies. We continued along the ride as the area is about 1 mile long so there is a lot of clearing and burning to do. We were joined by a large team of city folk who were doing a team building exercise so great piles of brash were tidied up.

Logs were piled into habitat heaps and some of the team took logs home for their wood burners |

The contractor did all the chain sawing work and he must have the strongest arms! |
