Flaxley Woods

Grid Ref SO675159

A bright sunny day for us all and we continued to clear the cut wood from the forest floor to allow an open area for wild flowers to grow.

This is also a precious Dormouse site with quite a few Dormouse nest boxes on the trees. We believe that there are Dormice hibernating in the boxes but we did not disturb them by taking a look.

We were moving up the slope to clear the ground and leaving habitat piles of wood and hedging..

The area from the wire fencing to the tree line is now open and it will be interesting to take a walk there in the late spring to see if the wild flowers have recovered.

Time for a rest!
