The start of the New Year with a temperature of -3 degrees but the sun was shining and created a beautiful day with the frost sparkling on the trees. We continued to remove firs and a small grove of birch trees adjacent to the small stream which is a vital breeding ground for the Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary.

This was the view at the start of the day. We were lucky enough to see two separate herds of deer trot across the landscape. There were about 6 deer in each herd. |

Brush piles adorn the side of the track down the stream.
