It was a magnificent sunny day to be out in the woods!
Our task was Pine and Birch clearance for heathland restoration. We were thinning the number of regenerating pine trees from the best section of heathland habitat.
We, eventually, had five fires going. The rangers used their chain saws to bring down the larger trees which the team cut the branches off and dragged to the fire. |
|
The sun was bright enough to require arm shading! GWT have four apprentice students working with our lead ranger in the forest for six months which is useful. |

Finally, an open area emerges as the team drag everything away. |
