Winter Programme 2009 - 2010

A group of volunteers meet at the Arboretum on the first monday of every month at 11 a.m.

New Fancy

Meet Sid in New Fancy car park.  From Coleford, head towards Speech House, turn right just before the Speech House Hotel onto New Fancy Road.  Site is 1mile on the left.

Clanna

Leave the B4228 St Briavels road at Hewelsfield and take the minor road towards Alvington.  Follow the arrows from the crossroads by Barnage Farm

 

Laurel clearance and burning.

Oakenhill

From Parkend head towards Yorkley, cross over the railway lines. Take the first right onto Church Drive, from the church follow the white arrows.

Coppice birch and scrub to open up nightjar habitat area.

From the cross roads at Parkend, head towards Lydney.  Park in entrance on right opposite Forest of Dean Van Sales.

Milkwall

Meet in the Darkhill carpark off the Sling – Fetter Hill road.  Walk to the barrier and go left along the cycle path following the arrows.

 

Coppicing and bracken control to enhance habitat for the small pearl bordered fritillary, violets and adders.
