20 September 2016

Greathough Brook, Piano Corner

Grid Ref SO621154

The idea today was to do a full GPS survey of the area and count, identify and photograph all the trees. However, we also do a yearly task of clearing the high banks to benefit the Wood White butterfly.

Part of the team went along the banks and removed the low growing shrubs and brambles.

This is Greathough Brook about half way down the site. It is very tranquil at this time of year but can turn into a torrent when the winter rains come.

The rest of the team went through the woods beside the brook and noted down the tree species and the number of them.
