Darkhill Ironworks Nature Reserve

Grid Ref SO588087

Even though it was a cold and wet day, many members turned up to help at this site. Some of us went to clear masses of bramble which is an unpopular job so they were only asked to do it for a short while. Others were raking the cut debris on the Iron Works main site but the larger part of the group were cutting and burning in the lower wood - keeping warm!

It was Pancake day so our lovely lady, (who, with her husband, monitor and survey this site and live nearby) cooked absolutely loads of pancakes and brought them down to us with fresh oranges and lemons - what a treat!

Getting the fire going - all hands working hard!

Pancake time and a welcome rest by the fire.

A massive pile of the raked debris which had been cut by our contractors. Most of this was piled away to rot down.
