Stenders Quarry GWT Reserve

Grid Ref SO659183

We continued to remove the old trees from the left hand side of Stenders Quarry, It was a bright sunny day but there was a vicious wind!

The hillside to the right was extremely steep and it is interesting that on the original map of Stenders Quarry this area was a water reservoir. We presume that it was filled in with slag causing the steep sided hill.

One of the Hebridean sheep came to see us. Our site warden regularly checks them and they come quite easily to him - except for one!

He thinks that one of the sheep might be deaf so, when he calls them, only 10 of the 11 sheep turn up until the deaf one frantically runs down to join his friends!
